We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide high-quality support for looked after young people aged 16 & 17. We're based just a short stroll from Great Yarmouth's beautiful sandy beaches — a perfect spot to make a real difference while enjoying the sea air. This is a full-time, on-site role, supporting care-experienced young people aged 16–17 as they take their next steps toward independence.

This role requires a blend of practical skills and emotional intelligence to effectively assist clients with daily activities and personal care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, person-centred support to young people, recognising and responding to individual needs and experiences.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Create a homely, warm, and welcoming environment where young people feel safe and heard.
  • Support young people in developing practical skills, resilience, and confidence for independent living.
  • Engage in positive activities and experiences with young people, contributing to a sense of fun and belonging.
  • Be open and prepared to have tricky, emotive, and reflective conversations in a supportive and non-judgemental way, sharing information as part of the network around the young person.
  • Record all information in an accurate and timely manager on our electronic system.
  • Work with professionals from a plethora of agencies, including social workers, Police, Personal Advisors, Health, Emergency Services and so forth.
  • Reflect on your own practice and participate in team reflective sessions and supervision.
  • Work in line with organisational policies, procedures, and Ofsted regulations.
  • Attend mandatory and developmental training sessions.

Criteria

  • GCSEs, A Levels or equivalent
  • Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent - or willing to work towards this
  • Compassionate, thoughtful, and emotionally resilient
  • Ability to build trusting, respectful relationships with young people while maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Good sense of humour and ability to contribute to a warm, welcoming environment
  • Committed to upholding values of equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • Awareness of Ofsted regulations in supported accommodation settings
  • Basic IT and record-keeping skills
  • Understanding of how life experiences and trauma can impact young people's behaviour, emotions, and development
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training including safeguarding, first aid, and trauma awareness
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and therapeutic approaches
