Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive, motivated and personable Sales Assistant to join our team at Stokes Bros. We are a small local business with a team of 3 and we are looking to expand our sales team. The successful candidate will play a vital hands on role in providing excellent customer service to our public and trade customers as well as facilitating the day to day running of the shop . This position offers an opportunity to work in a friendly and supportive environment while developing organisation and communication skills in the plumbing and retail industry.
Stokes Bros is plumbers merchant and while knowledge of the trade industry is not compulsory it would be beneficial but full training will be provided. The role is paid with flexible working hours and suitable for individuals eager to contribute to a vibrant retail setting.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them in finding products that meet their needs with excellent customer service
- Provide detailed product information and demonstrate features when necessary
- Maintain visual merchandising standards to ensure attractive product displays
- Handle customer enquiries via phone, computer and in person with professional etiquette
- Process transactions accurately
- Manage stock levels, organise stockroom, and assist with inventory checks
- Support organisational tasks such as scheduling displays and restocking shelves
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth store operations
- Opening and closing the store
- Processing orders, deliveries and returns
- Planning and design of bathrooms (training provided)
Skills required:
- Fluency in English
- Basic IT and computers skills
- Proactive with a positive attitude and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers confidently
- Organised with excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock counts
- Good phone etiquette and organisational skills are essential for success in this role
