Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom South West Water Full time £48,000 - £52,254

At Bristol Water we've been making people healthier and the economy stronger since 1846. We've served generations of families and will serve generations to come.

We're here to have a positive impact on people and the planet for generations. We don't just give people water - we keep them healthy and help them grow. We work around the clock, testing our water hundreds of times every day.

We take this same view with our 600 employees, we don't just give them jobs in water, we keep them healthy and help them grow.

We're one of the smallest water companies in the UK. Being small means we're nimble and can achieve things quickly for our customers and our people.

But while we're small, we're also part of a larger family. In June 2021 we became part of the Pennon group, which also owns South West Water and Bournemouth Water.

This means that as part of our team, you'll get the best of both worlds – the dynamism and fast pace of a smaller company, along with the security and breadth of opportunity that comes with being part of a large organisation.

Are you ready to lead a dynamic, multi-disciplined team delivering essential water network construction services? Bristol Water is seeking a Network Construction Operations Manager to oversee our in-house teams responsible for repair and maintenance activities, including stop tap replacements, service repairs, and new connections.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, you'll be accountable for operational performance, health & safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across our network construction teams. This is a pivotal leadership role with real impact on customer satisfaction and service delivery

Main Duties
  • Ensure the health & safety of all employees and contractors under your control.
  • Manage technical interfaces between Network and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Lead performance management for dig teams, plumbers, specialists, and support operatives.
  • Ensure compliance with street works regulations and reduce customer risk.
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Provide daily performance reports and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate on policy and process development across Network teams.
  • Oversee depot operations and maintain site standards.
  • Develop and manage material replenishment processes.
  • Participate in 24/7 operational standby rota.
  • Build strong relationships with local authorities.
  • Conduct customer visits to prevent complaint escalation.
  • Manage specific revenue costs and ensure installation quality.
  • Act as delegate for the Senior Manager when required.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven leadership experience in network construction or utilities operations.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety, compliance, and street works regulations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse performance data and implement improvements.
  • Experience managing multi-skilled teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to participate in standby rota.
What we offer
  • Generous holiday allowance plus bank holidays
  • A discretionary Bonus
  • Competitive Contributory Pension
  • Share-save Scheme
  • Various health benefits
  • Wellbeing support programmes
  • A range of Group Discounts
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Financial support services
  • And plenty more
£48,000 - £52,254 a year
