We are currently looking for a Court of Protection Caseworker to join our Private Client department at our newly refurbished Birmingham office This role is perfect for someone who is compassionate, organised, and has a strong sense of responsibility, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on people's lives. As a Court of Protection Caseworker, you will play a vital role in managing the financial affairs of those who lack the capacity to do so themselves. You will work alongside a supportive team of 10 people in our Private Client Department, backed by administrative and secretarial support, all dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting and maintaining personal and household budgets for clients.
  • Handling client payments and balancing accounts.
  • Coordinating contractors, therapists, care staff, and other third-party professionals.
  • Responding to emergency situations quickly, empathetically, and efficiently, always with the client's best interests in mind.
  • Providing clear financial reports and offering recommendations to appointed deputies regarding budgets, financial requests, and changes in circumstances.
  • Ensuring clients are able to live their lives fully and independently by effectively managing their financial and practical needs.

Experience & Skills Required:
While prior experience as a Court of Protection caseworker is not essential, we are looking for candidates with experience in the following areas:

Your expertise can come from hands-on experience rather than formal qualifications. This role would be ideal for individuals who have volunteered or worked as a charity or church treasurer, local housing officer, bank cashier, or in similar positions.

Key Skills:

  • Proficiency in Excel for budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to set and track budgets effectively.
  • Life coordination skills, with practical knowledge of managing household budgets, coordinating property works, and making informed recommendations for clients.
  • Exceptional communication skills in all forms, with the ability to engage with clients and professionals at all levels.
  • Patience and the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Clean driving licence with access to a car for business use.
