Head of Engineering

UK based with regular travel

The Business

A well established UK manufacturer with multiple sites and a strong focus on sustainability. High volume, heavy kit, mixed processes and plenty of scope to modernise.

The Role

As Head of Engineering you will lead engineering across all sites, raise maintenance standards, deliver capital projects and drive continuous improvement. You will also develop and embed a Computerised Maintenance Management System. Expect regular travel and close work with site leadership. Key areas include:


• Lead and develop engineering teams across all sites


• Set high standards in safety and compliance


• Improve production performance using data led methods


• Push digital tools, condition monitoring and predictive maintenance


• Deliver capital projects from planning to completion


• Build a consistent, robust maintenance strategy with the CMMS at its core


• Coach and train teams to raise technical capability


• Lead Lean activity and track improvements


• Support sustainability and decarbonisation efforts

The Person


• Senior engineering leader with multi site experience


• Strong communicator with a strategic mindset


• Confident with CMMS and modern maintenance practices


• Lean expertise ideally Six Sigma Black Belt


• Strong electrical knowledge and experience with heavy engineering


• Degree in engineering or similar


• Proven in capital projects and continuous improvement


• Solid understanding of safety regulations


• Full UK driving licence
