About the Role
Learn Active Coaching CIC are a community interest company who work with young people to help improve their mental health, self -esteem and mindset towards life.
We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring Wellbeing Mentor to support secondary school pupils and 16–18-year-old learners in South Birmingham. The role focuses on increasing confidence, self-esteem, emotional wellbeing and helping young people develop a positive outlook on life.
You will deliver targeted 1:1 and group mentoring that empowers young people to overcome personal challenges, build resilience, and re-engage with their education and future aspirations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group wellbeing mentoring sessions.
- Build strong, supportive relationships and provide a safe, non-judgmental space for young people.
- Help students develop confidence, resilience, motivation, and emotional regulation skills.
- Use mentoring, coaching, and wellbeing techniques to guide young people in setting meaningful goals.
- Work collaboratively with school/college pastoral teams and safeguarding leads.
- Maintain accurate session logs and contribute to progress and impact reports.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with organisational procedures.
Must-Have Requirements
The successful candidate must have:
- Experience in a mentoring or counselling capacity with young people.
- Trauma-informed practice experience/training and understanding.
- Up-to-date safeguarding training.
- Enhanced DBS certificate and registration on the DBS Update Service.
- A minimum Level 2 Mentoring qualification (Level 3 preferred).
- Excellent communication skills, empathy, and the ability to inspire and motivate young people.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
Working Pattern
- Days: Thursday & Friday
- Hours: 8:45am – 3:30pm
- Location: South Birmingham (school/college and community settings)
