Role: Employment Coordinator – Pathways

Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £24,720 and £29,870 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People's pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking an Employment Coordinator in Pathways to join our Foundation Learning & Additional Learning Support department at The Bedford College Group.

As an Employment Coordinator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Vocational Support & Job Coaching – Conduct vocational assessments and action plans for young people with SEND, providing tailored guidance and in-work coaching to help them access meaningful placements and employment.
  • Employer Engagement & Opportunity Development – Liaise with employers and training providers to create and coordinate work experience, voluntary, and paid opportunities that align with students' goals and abilities.
  • Integrated Support & Collaboration – Work closely with families, carers, and professional agencies to deliver holistic support packages, ensuring placements are safe, inclusive, and well-matched.
  • Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance – Maintain accurate records using the supported employment database, gather feedback from employers and students, and ensure all health, safety, and safeguarding procedures are followed.
  • College-Wide Contribution & Values – Participate in open days, ID checks, and team meetings across campuses, while upholding TBCG's values, safeguarding responsibilities, and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

About you:

  • Qualifications & Sector Expertise – Holds a degree in the relevant subject or equivalent industry experience, a recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed), and GCSEs (A–C) in English and Maths.
  • Leadership & Teaching Experience – Demonstrates successful team leadership in Further Education, with experience teaching across levels, managing curriculum quality, and applying sector-specific knowledge with credibility.
  • Strategic & Operational Skills – Skilled in setting and achieving team goals, using IT systems and data to monitor performance, and leading quality assurance processes to meet internal and external targets.
  • Professional Attributes & Communication – Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to influence, build relationships, and respond proactively to challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Values, Safeguarding & Flexibility – Committed to safeguarding, equality, and health & safety; maintains professional boundaries; and is flexible to travel and adapt working hours to meet business needs.

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
