Music Outreach Worker

Job purpose
To develop, encourage and help lead missional outreach in our area specifically through music ministry. This will include: children/youth music ministry in the church, in schools and other community spaces, developing music initiatives in church, working with the team to develop a range of choirs and groups to support the music ministry of the church, helping and supporting current projects and developing new ones.
To work with other agencies and develop the links we have already established.
To work with people of all backgrounds, of other faiths and none – St Giles' is an inclusive Church.
Key responsibilities
Leadership
Help develop our vision of growing & serving together to share the mission of St Giles' through music with our neighbours, our community and our world.
Enthuse and empower the church to engage in music ministry within the community.
Day to day
· To work closely on a day to day basis with the Associate Priest responsible for music in the Mission Hub in matters pertaining to music for worship, mission and outreach.
· Accompanying worship, the choir, workshops and other groups as directed by the Associate Priest with responsibility for music.
· Assist the Associate Priest in cataloguing and organising sheet music, setting music for the choir and workshops.
· Stand in for the Associate Priest on things musical in their absence.
Discipleship
Help to further develop missional engagement with the local schools, and other appropriate corporate or social groups within the community.
Engage with wider church activities, including social events, and encourage participation and representation in the wider life of the church.
Outreach
Support existing projects and help to develop new initiatives.
Build upon existing relationships with schools and other organisations where appropriate.
Communication
Invest time in communicating with the community both inside and outside the church.
Maintain accurate and complete records of all events, with attendance and registration information being GDPR compliant.
Prepare risk assessments for activities and ensure that appropriate policies and guidelines are in place.
Team membership
Be sympathetic to the Christian faith and experienced in working in a church setting.
To work closely with the Associate Priest responsible for music in the Mission Hub along with the wider clergy team. Line management through the Mission Hub Leader.
Provide half-yearly reports to the MAC on progress.
Undertake training as identified by the Associate Priest with responsibility for music, in consultation with the Diocesan Office/Archdeacon/Hub Leader.
Fulfil such other tasks as may be required and are commensurate with the post.
Attend team meetings and training events as required.
Pastoral care
Support and engage with pastoral care, working with our safeguarding team.
Help ensure that volunteer workers are appropriately supported and identify any training needs.
Communicate clearly with those engaged in pastoral care and those receiving pastoral care.
