Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing personalised care and support to children and young people, ensuring their wellbeing, safety, and development within a nurturing and structured environment. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young lives while working as part of a supportive organisation committed to high-quality care and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and emotional support to children and young people in line with individual care plans.
- Assist with daily routines and activities, including personal care, education, recreation, and household tasks.
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour through encouragement and consistent boundaries.
- Support children to participate in social and recreational activities, both within the home and in the community.
- Maintain clear communication with colleagues, families, and professionals to ensure consistency of care.
- Drive young people to school, appointments, or activities, following all health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
- Record accurate and detailed daily observations, incident reports, and progress notes in line with organisational procedures.
- Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive environment that upholds the values of respect, equality, and diversity.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working or some knowledge with supporting children and young people, ideally within a residential, childcare, or education setting.
- Knowledge of child development, safeguarding, and trauma-informed practice.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to follow and contribute to care plans and risk assessments effectively.
- Competent IT skills for record-keeping and reporting.
- A compassionate, patient, and resilient attitude when working with children with diverse needs.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
- Hold, be working towards, or willing to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
