Semi Independent Support Worker
About Us:
At Flexi First Class Care (FFCC), we provide safe, supportive short- to medium-term accommodation and semi‑independent living for young people aged 16–25. Our aim is to help care leavers and vulnerable young people build life skills, confidence and stability — supporting them towards independence in a caring, inclusive environment that honours their background and identity.
The Role:
We are looking for caring, committed and flexible Support Workers to join our team. As part of FFCC, you will support young people living in our semi‑independent houses: offering practical and emotional support, helping them to develop essential life skills, and guiding them on the path to adulthood.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Provide practical support with daily living: cooking, cleaning, budgeting, meal prep, household chores.
- Help young people build independent‑living skills: planning & cooking meals, using public transport, managing money, work/education applications, social and leisure activities.
- Offer emotional support, mentoring and guidance — helping residents navigate the transition from care to independence.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and stable living environment — carry out health & safety checks, complete care records, and follow safeguarding and regulatory policies.
- Work collaboratively with other staff, external professionals (social workers, housing officers, etc.), and support residents to access education, employment or training and aftercare support.
Who We're Looking For:
- Someone with empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to support young people toward a brighter future
- Experience in residential care, supported living, social care, or working with vulnerable young people — though full training will be provided if needed.
- Flexibility: willing to work shifts, including evenings, nights or sleep‑ins, with a flexible rota to suit the needs of young people
- Good communication, interpersonal skills, resilience, and ability to deliver consistent, person‑centred support.
- Ability to work as part of a team and also show initiative when supporting young people's personal development.
What We Offer:
- Flexible working patterns to suit your lifestyle.
- The opportunity to make a real, life-changing difference for young people transitioning to independence.
- A supportive, values‑driven workplace that recognises the diversity and unique backgrounds of residents.
- Ongoing training and professional development — ideal for someone passionate about growing in social care.
- Chance to work with a team focused on real impact, not just care — creating safer futures for young people.
