Project Director (Hyperscale Data Centres)

Location: Central London

Salary: Up to £140,000 + Comprehensive Package

We at Smart4EPC are currently assisting our Top Ranked M&E client on their search for an accomplished Project Director to lead the delivery of large-scale Hyperscale Data Centre projects across the UK. This is a senior leadership opportunity to take full responsibility for complex, high-value MEP delivery — ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical and commercial standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of project delivery across major hyperscale and mission-critical data centre projects.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams through all phases — from pre-construction and design coordination to commissioning and client handover.
  • Oversee mechanical systems including cooling, air handling, chilled water, and energy-efficient infrastructure solutions.
  • Manage commercial performance, including budgeting, cost forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, main contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with rigorous technical standards, health & safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to project managers and engineering teams, promoting technical excellence and best practice.

Role Requirements:

  • Proven track record as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager within the MEP contracting or data centre delivery environment.
  • Strong mechanical engineering background, ideally degree-qualified or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable experience managing hyperscale or mission-critical data centre projects, ideally in the UK or Europe.
  • Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Commercially driven, with deep understanding of project governance and financial control.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented professional capable of delivering under pressure and to tight deadlines
