About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Sous Chef with a strong background in Continental and Mediterranean cuisine, as well as classic British dishes. The ideal candidate will take pride in crafting exceptional flavours, maintaining high kitchen standards, and working within a fixed menu while continually enhancing taste and presentation.
This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a busy kitchen environment and is genuinely passionate about artisan cooking, quality ingredients, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of Continental, Mediterranean, and British dishes including Sunday roasts, grills, and traditional English favourites.
- Support the Head Chef in managing all kitchen operations, ensuring smooth service during busy periods.
- Maintain high food hygiene and safety standards, following HACCP and kitchen protocols.
- Work with a fixed menu, while adding creativity and improving flavour profiles.
- Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen at all times.
- Monitor stock levels, minimise waste, and assist in ordering supplies when needed.
- Lead by example — promoting teamwork, discipline, and efficiency in the kitchen.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in Continental/Mediterranean and British cuisine.
- Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations.
- Excellent knife skills and understanding of food preparation techniques.
- Reliable, hardworking, and honest with a positive attitude.
- Must be able to commute daily to Ascot, Berkshire.
- Flexible to work 6 days per week with one day off.
- A true passion for cooking, presentation, and delighting customers with exceptional flavour.
