The NHS Lothian Blood Science Laboratories comprising Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry, Immunology and Serology are based on 3 adult sites (RIE, WGH & SJH). This is an opportunity to develop your technical and managerial skills within a supportive team environment at the RIE Immunology Department. Applicants will be considered from HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists educated to Masters level (Masters or HSD) with experience ideally within Immunology and related disciplines. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with proven training and management skills. The ideal candidate will have experience at a specialist level in Immunology along with interest in Laboratory Health and Safety. The post holder is responsible for maximising service provision, including enabling the delivery of a safe and effective service, and ensuring that all local and national guidelines and targets are adhered to and met e.g., quality and training, and helping to maintain our ISO 15189 accreditation. Team Manager Based in Immunology, RIE – This is within the Immunology department based at the RIE. This service is rapidly growing with potential to continue to expand to increase the scope of the service. There will also be the requirement to actively engage and participate with the implementation of the new LIMS once it arrives within NHS Lothian Laboratories. This post is also required to take an active role with H&S within the Blood Sciences department at the RIE. Whilst this post is specifically within Immunology, it is supported by a wider multi-disciplinary Blood Science Team
The post is currently for 37 hours per week primarily from Monday - Friday, but the working patterns are under review both in relation to the reduced working week and all insuring the immunology meets the needs of the it's users. For further information or to arrange a visit please contact.
