A leading insurance group is seeking a skilled Accounts Payable Assistant to join their AP team on an interim basis, working from the Harrogate office. The Accounts Payable Assistant will play a key role in maintaining efficient AP operations, ensuring payment accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Processing a large volume of invoices according to internal controls and policies.
  • Reconciling vendor and nominal accounts during month-end closing.
  • Handling ad hoc and scheduled payments, submitting batches for managerial review.
  • Managing the central AP mailbox, ensuring invoices are processed within service level agreements.
  • Developing relationships with teams such as Procurement, Facilities, and IT, to optimise vendor relationships and drive AP performance.

You will have

  • Demonstrable Accounts Payable experience and familiarity with best practices in a purchase order-driven environment.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics D365), plus intermediate Excel skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, adapt to shifting priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to connect with both internal colleagues and external partners.
  • A collaborative team spirit with initiative to manage individual workload.
