Scape Finance Team
The Scape UK finance team is based in Harrogate and provides accounting and finance to the UK assets, including management companies, operational assets and development assets. The teams work includes investor reporting, management accounting, statutory reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
Location: Harrogate
Hours: 35 hours per week, 9am - 5pm
The Role
The role of Finance Manager is to lead on the billing, accounting, management reporting and the review and audit of the financial statements for the management companies. The role will also entail supporting the Finance Business Partner and CFO to maintain the business models.
Responsibilities include:
- Ownership of the management accounts of the Scape management companies
- Ownership of the financial statements and audits of the Scape management companies
- Management and of coaching of one direct report, the senior management accountant
- Review of monthly recharges within management and operating companies and reconciliation of intercompany balances, working with finance team to investigate any differences
- Review of monthly reconciliation of balance sheet codes
- Review of sales ledgers, ensuring the invoiced amounts reflect any contract changes and are collected in a timely manner
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly board reports, with the potential to being the owner once established
- Transition the quarterly management reporting schedule to monthly reporting
- Oversight of payroll for c200 staff split between 3 companies until these are outsourced in due course
- Oversight of VAT returns and corporation tax
- Over time, the role will be required to oversee the preparation of some of the property entity TBs
- Ensure controls and processes are documented and adhered to.
- Other tasks as required to support the finance team
- Support the Finance Director, CFO and wider team on project-based work
Skills & Experience:
- Qualified accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA (or qualified by experience)
- Direct management experience
- Experience of preparing/ reviewing management accounts
- Experience of reviewing and/or preparing financial statements
- Experience of reviewing balance sheet reconciliations
- Experience of IFRS16 (or other technical accounting experience) would be a strong advantage
- Ability to take ownership of role and prioritise/manage workload
- Good level of Excel skills and overall IT literacy
- Strong communication skills with a need to be able to communicate with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Experience using Microsoft Navision an advantage
- Experience working within property or construction an advantage
- Experience working in student accommodation an advantage
