Assistant Accountant.

Our client is looking for a driven, intelligent, and ambitious Assistant Accountant who wants to accelerate their career within a high-growth, fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for someone early in their finance journey sharp, tenacious, detail-obsessed, and ready to play a key part in a busy finance function

You'll work closely with the Finance Manager and wider team, gaining broad exposure across transactional finance, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end processes. It's a hands-on role where accuracy, organisation, and a proactive mindset are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Process sales and purchase invoices promptly and accurately
  • Carry out daily bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Manage employee expenses, ensuring full compliance with internal policy
  • Execute weekly and monthly supplier and operational payments
  • Conduct proactive credit control via phone and email to maintain healthy cash flow
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Act as a point of contact for supplier and customer finance-related queries
  • Build positive working relationships to support smooth operational flow
  • Assist the Finance Manager with preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Support with accruals, prepayments, journals, and other month-end tasks
  • Help maintain accurate financial records and documentation
  • Provide wider administrative support to the finance team
  • Ensure filing systems and records are organised and up to date

About you:

  • AAT Level 2 minimum - Working toward Level 3/4 or equivalent is desirable
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP's, pivot tables)
  • Experience using Xero (preferred)
  • Previous experience within an Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable role
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Highly organised with strong prioritisation skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, scaling environment
  • A proactive, tenacious and willingness to learn
  • Ambition to qualify and progress within a growing business
