Accountant – South Manchester – Accounting and Advisory Practice

A fabulous opportunity has arisen for a commercial and ambitious, client focussed accountant to contribute to and learn from an experienced team of experts providing a full range of accountancy and advisory services to a range of clients.

This role would suit someone who has mastered the accounting fundamentals, now looking for a seat in a modern and commercial practice – possibly part qualified, rising to newly qualified – with some experience of practice accounting looking for the right firm in which to form lasting partnerships and build a fruitful and rewarding career.

This role is full-time, based on-site in modern and attractive company offices in a prestigious location in South Manchester.

Key Responsibilities and involvements

  • Serving clients as an extension to their businesses with a view to creating positive commercial and process outcomes
  • Preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Completion of corporation tax and personal tax returns
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Assisting with bookkeeping and management accounts
  • Collaborating internally and consulting directly with clients to resolve queries and provide commercial and technical support
  • Supporting other staff
  • Assisting with audit fieldwork from time to time
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations

Key Skills, Experience and Attitudes:

  • The right experienced operator (QBE) or less experienced with demonstrable progress with accounting studies considered
  • Proven experience as a Senior Bookkeeper or Accountant for clients
  • Strong knowledge of Xero and ability to produce and understand accounts
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident working independently and with the team
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a UK accountancy practice
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
  • Good understanding of UK tax regulations and accounting standards
  • Exposure to audit work
  • Willingness to continue professional development and qualification and desire to partner commercially with clients
