Job Purpose:

To support the kitchen team in preparing meals to the required standard, learning and developing culinary skills, helping maintain hygiene, stock and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chef de Partie in food preparation: washing/peeling/chopping vegetables and fruits, seasoning meats, preparing basic sauces and salads.
  • Measure and mix ingredients accurately under instruction.
  • Receive, unpack and check deliveries; verify quality and correct storage of ingredients.
  • Rotate stock appropriately, label and date products, discard expired or spoiled items according to policy.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of workstation and kitchen areas; follow food-safety and health & safety regulations (HACCP, COSHH etc.).
  • Assist in plating and presenting meals to the agreed standard, as directed.
  • Work effectively as part of the kitchen team, showing flexibility and a willingness to learn different stations (rotating through them) to build skills.
  • Adhere to uniform, appearance and personal hygiene standards.
