About CPI

Climate Policy Initiative

(CPI) is an analysis and advisory organization with deep expertise in finance and policy. Our mission is to help governments, businesses, and financial institutions drive economic growth while addressing climate change. CPI has seven offices around the world in Brazil, India, Indonesia, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Climate Finance Tracking

Since 2011, CPI has published the Global Landscape of Climate Finance series which has been the global benchmark for robust information on climate finance, providing foundational data for key stakeholders including: the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 6th Assessment Report, and the UNFCCC's Biennial Assessment among others.

CPI also develops analysis tracking climate finance flows at sectoral, national and regional levels working with partners such as the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), International Development Finance Club (IDFC), the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero, Bloomberg, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and many more.

Our unique tracking analysis covers both public and private finance data, providing access through concise reporting and interactive data visualization. Our research provides a baseline and compelling analysis against which to measure progress and to drive informed climate finance policymaking through three key levers: i) Flows – what investment is flowing to whom; ii) Needs – what is the investment gap to deliver on climate goals; and ii) Impact – what is proving effective and efficient in climate finance.

About the role

CPI is recruiting for a Senior Manager or Manager (Maternity Cover) to join our tracking workstream on a fixed term basis. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of CPI's core areas of work—our Tracking workstream—which is responsible for producing several of our flagship reports.

The successful candidate will report to the UK Director and work closely with our established Tracking team, which includes over 20 multidisciplinary professionals such as data scientists, economists, policy and financial analysts

as well as another Manager and a Senior Manager. This role is designed to provide maternity cover and will be shaped around the strengths and experience of the selected candidate.

Key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Support and where appropriate lead project teams delivering specific climate finance tracking workstream products and review products. Examples include – South Africa landscape; Methane abatement finance landscape and the Global landscape; Roadmaps. Projects are likely to be in progress, staffed with existing teams, though there may be 1-2 new projects.

  • Bring a strongly collaborative and effective team engagement style to Tracking program management. This will be key to working alongside our high performing and high ambition teams and fitting in with the existing culture and values at CPI and the office in London. Role may have up to 3 direct reports within a wider team of ~20.

  • Contribute to strategic direction of the Tracking workstream overall – drawing on your experience to help CPI consider how to shape our products in response to the 2026 operating context.

  • Support and lead Tracking fundraising / business development activities to diversify and strengthen our funding outlook. Building upon existing relationships and identifying new opportunities. Development of concept notes and pitch presentations. Requires ability to engage internally and externally.

In order to succeed you will need to:

  • Rapidly develop a solid understanding of CPI's tracking work, understanding the opportunities and challenges in driving transparency and understanding of financial flows across climate, nature and environment topics.

  • Reflect confidence and competence to be able to join the team and specific projects with credibility and be ready to take decisions and guide the teams to successful delivery. In addition to be able to represent CPI in funder and client engagement.

  • Foster a culture of cross-office learning and improvement across tracking through

participating in and potentially leading quarterly calls/bilateral meetings which enable and encourage knowledge exchange.

  • Bring a proactive problem-solving approach which enables you to understand both opportunities and challenges and propose effective solutions over the duration of the contract term.
