Shrewsbury SY HJ, United Kingdom Headway Shropshire Full time

Headway Shropshire is a leading charity supporting people in Shropshire who have sustained head injuries.

So what do we actually do? We work with brain injury survivors in our Community Wellbeing Centre and out in the community, giving back to those who need our support the most and helping them rebuild confidence in everyday life.

Community Wellbeing Centre Support Worker

We're looking for Community Wellbeing Centre Support Workers who enjoy being imaginative, hands on and full of ideas. Creativity is a big part of the role, as you'll help plan and run activities and events. One day you might be baking and decorating a cake, the next gardening, arts, crafts or something completely different. Every day brings the chance to help our clients try new things and stay connected with others and their local community.

The core hours are part time, 9.00am till 4.30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, totalling 22.5 hours. We ask applicants to be flexible with working days, as needs can vary. If you're looking for full time work, additional hours are available in the community with our ABICS (Acquired Brain Injury, Care & Support) team.

Role summary

Your main focus is supporting clients throughout the day, keeping them engaged and helping run activities in the centre.

If you need full time hours, the role can also involve community visits, ranging from 6 to 12 hours, which offer a rewarding chance to support individuals with day to day living. Our Community Wellbeing Support Workers help people stay independent by assisting with things like going shopping, preparing meals, attending appointments, enjoying their hobbies and keeping their homes clean and safe.
