Overview

The Community Care Worker plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalised care to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private residences. This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to enhancing the quality of life for seniors and those with specific health needs. As a Community Care Worker, you will support clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety while fostering independence.

Duties

  • Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful activities to promote emotional well-being.
  • Support clients with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any changes in health status.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies for clients with dementia or Alzheimer's care needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any concerns to healthcare professionals.
  • Drive clients to appointments or social activities as required.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs.

Skills

  • Experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or similar environments is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in patient care techniques, including first aid and medication administration.
  • Knowledge of senior care practices, hospice care, and dementia care principles.
  • Strong caregiving skills with the ability to provide emotional support and companionship.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours compassionately and effectively.
  • Competence in meal preparation that meets dietary requirements.
  • A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting clients as needed. This role requires a compassionate heart and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of those you serve.
