Job Overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and experienced supervisor to join our busy and diverse team. You will be based at our stunning headquarters in Sutton-in-Ashfield and be responsible for effective production as part of the Pattern Book Team.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning

  • Assist the Patterning Manager with the development and implementation strategic plans
  • Agree and cascade department goals and objectives to support delivery of the wider business plan
  • Responsible for the operational performance of the department
  • Identifies opportunities to improve key KPI's (Safety, quality, delivery and cost)

  • Support the Patterning Manager with planning and agreeing launch schedules

  • Operations

  • Responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of their department(s)/Team leaders and able to discuss performance
  • Plan load and capacity for the next 16 weeks of production (includes reviewing staffing levels and materials)
  • With Team Leaders, formulates and communicates daily plan, including allocation of resource and delegation of tasks required to meet the production schedule
  • Monitor production and works with team leaders to resolve issues
  • Ensure output meets quality standards
  • Working in collaboration with the Patterning Manager and Team Leaders to review projects and process improvement activities
  • Work in collaboration with any departments across the business to offer customer service excellence and seek regular feedback

  • Attending regular production meetings to support the launch process, having prepared information on production status and key issues

  • People Management

  • Support effective communication process within the department
  • Support Team Leaders in conflict resolution. Both formal and informal.
  • Gather feedback from teams on issues and promotes/enables a problem-solving culture
  • Working with Team Leaders to ensure employees work productively and develop professionally, supports and challenges as required
  • Support with identifying and developing talent to meet department succession needs (input into people planning and bench strength meetings)
  • Support Team Leaders in conducting professional meetings for team members and provide written feedback this is inclusive of but not limited to return-to-work interviews, appraisals, performance reviews and one to one meeting
  • Recruitment and training of new employees
  • Manage attendance (e.g., authorisation to leave work)
  • Conduct meaningful appraisals for direct reports
  • Support with consistency checking appraisals conducted by team leaders
  • Work with Team Leaders to Monitor skill levels and training requirements

  • Ensure that the required training is completed

  • Health & Safety

  • Responsible for ensuring health and safety rules are complied with
  • Review accident details and assess if further action is required e.g., training / changes to process etc. Report to Patterning Manager.

Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need good IT skills (Excel, Word, and Outlook), along with the ability to stay focused and maintain attention to detail. You will also build positive working relationships through effective interpersonal skills.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, highly motivated, and able to perform under pressure and as part of a team.
