Socode are proud to be a key client at the forefront of advanced printing and coating solutions who are - scaling global manufacturing, transforming their supply chains, and rebuilding their programme management capability as they move into high-volume, high-growth markets.
What will I be doing?
You'll take ownership of a portfolio of strategic programmes across operations – from shifting procurement and manufacturing activity to China, through to rebuilding the PMO and improving core systems. Acting as a Programme Manager with real visibility, you'll work closely with senior leadership to set up, govern, and deliver complex cross-functional initiatives that directly impact cost, capacity, and margin. The idea is you'll set up the programme and support individual projects, while growing the existing team.
You'll be the person who brings structure, clarity, and momentum to critical programmes – joining the dots between Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, IT, and Finance, and making sure big ideas actually land on the shop floor. This is an influential role within the business where your impact will be felt from day one, accompanied with a succession plan for future promotions
Key responsibilities:
- Rebuild and embed a fit-for-purpose PMO, setting standards, processes, and governance
- Lead procurement transformation programmes, moving key sourcing and BOM activity to China
- Own manufacturing transfer projects, including back-end assembly and test moves to the Dongguan facility
- Oversee equipment procurement, commissioning, and readiness for production ramp-up
- Drive improvements to MRP and operational systems, supporting smoother order-to-ship processes
- Manage the transfer of integrated print systems from the UK to China
- Produce clear documentation including plans, business cases, risk registers, and status reports
- Act as a visible point of coordination between UK and China operations – influencing stakeholders without relying on a large team of direct reports
- Champion continuous improvement and data-driven decision making across your programmes
We're looking for:
- Someone with a solid grounding in Engineering, Business Management, Project/Programme Management, or a similar field
- A proven programme leader who's delivered complex, cross-functional work in manufacturing, industrial, or high-tech environments
- Experience moving production, setting up facilities, or managing offshore operations — especially where China has been involved
- A good understanding of procurement and supply chain, including supplier qualification, cost reduction, and transferring components or assemblies
- Someone confident working with senior stakeholders and building strong relationships across different cultures and time zones
- A structured, analytical thinker who's comfortable with documentation, governance, and keeping risks under control
- A practical, hands-on operator who enjoys being on-site in Huntingdon and is open to travelling to China roughly once per quarter
- Any exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement tools would be a bonus
