Role Purpose
The
Head of People & Culture
is a critical leadership role, responsible for shaping and delivering Montcalm Collection's people strategy while ensuring operational and financial efficiency. This role balances the cultural stewardship of our brand with the commercial responsibility of managing HR budgets, payroll, workforce planning, and HR KPIs.
You will also act as a guardian of Montcalm's
employer brand and reputation
, ensuring the Collection is recognised internally and externally as a leading employer in luxury hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic People Leadership
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive people strategy aligned to Montcalm's commercial objectives and brand values.
- Partner with senior leadership to ensure People & Culture initiatives directly support business growth and guest service excellence.
Financial Accountability & KPIs
- Prepare and manage the annual HR budget across the Collection, ensuring cost control and alignment with financial targets.
- Oversee payroll management (internal and outsourced), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payment.
- Lead salary reviews, increases, and banding structures, balancing competitiveness with budget responsibility.
- Prepare and maintain manning guides per property, optimising workforce deployment against revenue forecasts.
- Monitor and report on HR KPIs, including labour cost %, turnover, retention, absenteeism, training hours, engagement, and recruitment efficiency.
- Provide monthly HR performance reports and analysis to senior leadership, highlighting risks and opportunities.
Talent & Recruitment
- Lead recruitment initiatives to attract top-tier talent into the Collection.
- Ensure structured onboarding and succession planning processes are in place.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Champion initiatives that promote employee wellbeing, belonging, diversity, and inclusion.
- Design recognition and reward programmes that drive motivation and loyalty.
- Oversee internal communications to ensure consistency, transparency, and engagement.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Ensure all ER processes are handled fairly, consistently, and in line with ACAS Codes and UK law.
- Provide ER trend reports and maintain up-to-date legal compliance across policies and practices.
Learning & Development
- Collaborate with the L&D Manager to design impactful programmes that build leadership and service excellence.
- Leverage Marriott/Design Hotels learning resources where relevant.
Change Management & Innovation
- Lead the organisation through transformation and change, ensuring clear communication and minimal disruption.
- Drive innovation in HR processes, technology, and systems.
Employer Branding & Reputation Management
- Build Montcalm Collection's reputation as an employer of choice in the luxury hospitality sector.
- Partner with Marketing & PR to align employer brand with overall corporate branding and guest-facing messaging.
- Manage Montcalm's presence on recruitment platforms, careers websites, and social channels.
- Promote employee success stories, career pathways, and company culture internally and externally.
- Monitor and manage employer reputation on review platforms (e.g., Glassdoor, Indeed), ensuring feedback informs HR strategy.
Key Skills & Experience
- Senior HR leadership experience within luxury hospitality.
- Expertise in employer branding, recruitment marketing, and reputation management.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing HR budgets, payroll, and KPIs.
- Knowledge of UK employment law, ACAS codes, and HR best practice.
- Proven track record in culture transformation, engagement, and talent development.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills at all levels.
