We're part of the More2Nurseries group, recognised nationally for our high-quality education, wellbeing focus, and community partnerships.

Our nursery is based in a beautiful Victorian school building behind the Forum at Greenwich, close to Maze Hill Station and major transport links. Deputy Nursery Manager – The Role

We're looking for an experienced and motivated Deputy Nursery Manager to join our leadership team.

This is a varied and rewarding role — a mix of office-based management and hands-on practice in the nursery. You'll work alongside the Nursery Manager and Office Manager to lead the team and uphold our outstanding standards.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Support the Nursery Manager with daily operations and compliance.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate staff to deliver outstanding EYFS practice.
  • Act as SENCO, promoting inclusion and supporting additional needs.
  • Oversee teaching, learning, and quality across all age groups.
  • Manage staffing levels and rota planning.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents and carers.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and staff development.
  • Maintain high standards in safeguarding, health & safety, and equality.
  • Step up for the Nursery Manager during absence.
  • Get involved in all aspects of nursery life – helping make the nursery the best it can be.

About You

We're seeking a confident, organised leader who's passionate about early years education.

You'll need:

  • Level 3 or above Early Years qualification (Level 5/6 desirable).
  • Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience in an early years setting.
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding requirements.
  • Confident use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and genuine passion for child development.

This role would suit an experienced Room Leader, Third in Charge, or existing Deputy Nursery Manager ready to progress.

There's a clear pathway to Nursery Manager within our growing group.

  • 4-day working week for better work/life balance
  • Up to 38 days' holiday (including bank holidays, after qualifying period)
  • Free counselling and wellbeing support
  • Funded training and qualifications (Level 5, Leadership, SEND etc.)
  • Annual staff training week – with inspiring topics like loose parts, wellbeing, and early maths
  • Local staff discounts, perks, and community membership scheme
  • Supportive, friendly leadership and excellent progression opportunities
