Part-Time Medical Receptionist (20 hrs per week) – Maidstone Area

We are a friendly GP surgery in the Maidstone area, are expanding our staffing and is currently looking for a part-time Medical Receptionist to join our team.

About the role:

  • Hours: 20 hours per week (mix of morning and afternoon shifts on a rota basis).
  • Morning shifts: 7:45am–1:15pm or 8:00am–1:30pm or 8am to 1pm
  • Afternoon shifts: 1:00pm–6:00pm, 1:15pm–6:00pm or 1:30pm–6:30pm
  • Location: You will work across both our Shepway and Grove Green branches.
  • Enhanced hours: Once every 7 weeks, you'll be asked to work extended hours (with enhanced pay) on Mondays: 6:30pm–8:00pm and Saturdays: 9:00am–5:00pm
  • Core surgery hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–6:30pm.
  • Salary - depending on your experience at GP Surgery receptionist role

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide a welcoming and efficient first point of contact for patients.
  • Answer queries by phone and face-to-face, triaging and signposting patients to the right service.
  • Manage appointments, bookings, and recalls (e.g. annual health checks, vaccinations).
  • Handle administrative tasks such as repeat prescriptions, emails, post, and record keeping.
  • Support with practice operations such as opening/locking the building securely.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow practice systems and protocols at all times.

About you:

  • We are expanding our team and looking to recruit additional receptionist
  • Warm, friendly, and empathetic, with excellent communication skills.
  • Able to remain professional under pressure, and confident in influencing or negotiating when required.
  • Comfortable using computers (essential).
  • Previous GP practice experience with EMIS preferred.
