Digital Project Manager (Contract) – Data Transformation | BPSS | Hybrid UK

We're looking for an experienced
Digital Project Manager
to support the maturity and delivery of core data-driven services within a large central government environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead transformation across key data initiatives and help shape a growing Chief Data Office.

Any UK hub (on-site up to 3 days p/w)

Inside IR35

Up to
£500/day inside IR35

Role Overview

You'll play a pivotal role in driving delivery, improving capability, and embedding best-practice project governance and agile methodologies across a maturing data organisation.

Working closely with service leads and cross-functional teams, you will:

  • Oversee day-to-day delivery of multiple data service projects
  • Ensure work is delivered to scope, quality, and timelines
  • Adapt delivery approach (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid) to each project
  • Track progress, manage risks, issues & dependencies
  • Escalate blockers and ensure effective resource use
  • Lead planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Bridge user needs and business outcomes across digital, data, and governance teams


Key Focus Areas

You will help enhance and scale services including:

  • Objectives & Key Results (OKRs)
  • Data Quality
  • Data Sharing
  • Data Maturity Assessments
  • Data Ownership & Stewardship rollout

These services are foundational to enabling better data use across the organisation and must be scalable, user-centred, and sustainable.

  • Strong background project managing
    complex digital programmes
  • Experience in
    multi-stakeholder environments
  • Proven ability to
    lead delivery across multiple workstreams
  • Expertise in
    Agile & Waterfall / hybrid delivery
  • Strong planning, tracking, and reporting skills
  • Able to translate strategy into execution
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement & comms skills
  • Proactive problem solver with a
    user-centred mindset
  • Able to coach others and embed continuous improvement

Nice to have

  • Experience in
    data governance / data strategy / data transformation
  • Familiarity with
    OKRs
    or performance frameworks
