Overview
The Senior Care Assistant plays a pivotal role in providing high-quality care and support to residents in a care home setting. This position requires a compassionate individual with strong leadership skills who is dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors. The Senior Care Assistant will be responsible for supervising junior staff, implementing care plans, and ensuring that all residents receive personalised attention tailored to their individual needs.
Duties
- Assist in the development and implementation of individual care plans for residents, ensuring their needs are met with dignity and respect.
- Supervise and mentor junior care staff, providing guidance and support to enhance team performance.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care.
- Medication administaration
- Maintain accurate records of residents' progress and any changes in their condition or needs.
- Drive initiatives that promote a safe, clean, and welcoming environment within the care home.
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on best practices in senior care and IT systems relevant to care management.
- Engage residents in activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Skills
- Proven leadership abilities with a drive to motivate and inspire others within a team environment.
- Experience in senior care settings, demonstrating an understanding of the unique needs of elderly individuals.
- Proficient in developing and executing care plans tailored to individual resident requirements.
- Strong supervisory skills, with the ability to oversee staff performance effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective interaction with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Familiarity with IT systems used in care management is advantageous but not essential.
