Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for driving change and delivering high-quality governance across complex projects? We're looking for a Project Governance Manager to join our dynamic Projects Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of services across the Council.
About the Role
As Project Governance Manager, you'll lead on governance, assurance, and benefits realisation across our Project Management Programme. You'll work closely with Members, Portfolio Holders, and senior officers to ensure projects are delivered with transparency, accountability, and measurable impact.
You'll manage a small team of Business Analysts and Project Officers, and act as a centre of excellence for change management, lessons learned, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead governance and assurance processes across the Council's project portfolio.
- Provide expert advice to governance boards and senior stakeholders.
- Develop tools and frameworks to track project delivery, benefits, and ROI.
- Conduct project health checks and facilitate lessons learned workshops.
- Support the development of internal change capability and best practice.
- Manage and develop a high-performing team.
What We're Looking For
- A recognised project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, Agile).
- Proven leadership experience in project governance or delivery.
- Strong understanding of local government operations and political awareness.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience managing budgets and leading cross-functional teams.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
