Assistant Decorator

Hours: 40 hours per week (with unpaid break and travel time)

Porthaven Care Homes are looking for an assistant decorator who will receive full training and mentoring from experienced decorators to support an exciting project across multiple care home sites, in partnership with Care Home Interiors.

About this Role:

Join us on a 3-year fixed-term journey learning the trade of decorating while helping improve care home interiors across the Porthaven Group. In this hands-on role, you'll assist with tasks like painting, wallpapering, and preparing surfaces — gaining practical skills and experience every step of the way. If you're eager to learn, enjoy working with your hands, and want to build a career in decorating, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:

· Help with decorating and improvement jobs at care homes across the Porthaven Group

· Follow clear instructions and work with the team to meet project deadlines using the materials provided

· Assist the regional decorator with what materials are needed for each job

· Work safely and follow health and safety rules to keep yourself and others safe.

· Check in regularly with the Regional Decorator and Project Coordinator to share any problems to help make sure the work is done well.

· Take pride in helping improve our care home environments and supporting Porthaven's strong reputation.

About You:

You're dependable, adaptable, and enjoy a bit of variety in your week. You'll be travelling with the team to different care homes and working away from home, giving you the chance to focus fully on each project without distractions. You don't need to drive — transport will be provided — so you can concentrate on learning new skills and making a real difference across the Porthaven Group.

Key qualities and experience:

· Eager to learn decorating and comfortable using basic tools

· Happy to use phones or tablets to stay organised and in touch with the team

· Reliable and motivated, you take responsibility to get tasks done without reminders

· Flexible and ready to help with different kinds of projects

· Willing to work extra hours sometimes, with time off given later

· Presentable and professional—uniform and safety gear worn with pride.

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Contract length: 36 months
