Job Overview

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our finance team. Shellplant a family business have been based in Earls Barton for 54 years and are experiencing growth at the moment with a planned move for spring 2026 to move into new much larger premises still in the village

The position for the right candidate can be tailored with hours and salary to suit the skill set , hours between part time and full time can be negotiated

Although the position is purchase ledger there are many roles withing a small business and we hope the right candidate would have the skills to take some of these on

Although set as temporary this position could lead to full time employment

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing our accounts payable processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions. This position requires proficiency in various accounting software and a strong understanding of financial management principles.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of all purchase invoices and payments.
  • Process accounts payable transactions in a timely manner, ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies as they arise.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to purchases and expenditures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth procurement processes.
  • Utilise accounting software and reporting.
  • Support the finance team with general administrative tasks as required.

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software,
  • Strong financial management skills with a focus on accounts payable processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
