ChampionX is seeking a
Chemist
to join our Analytical RD&E team in
Aberdeen, UK
on a 12-month temporary basis. Oil and gas production faces technical challenges that can be addressed with production chemicals. Our research and development team creates chemical and engineering solutions by replicating conditions in the lab. The candidate will be involved in testing water samples returned from the field for Scale Inhibitor residuals and scaling ions

What You Will Do

• Conduct water analysis testing using a variety of analytical techniques, including ICP, IC and HPLC.
• Support senior team members with project-focused work and development of new test methodologies.
• May be required to support Goods In/Sample Dispatch team.
• Potential to participate in more complex testing, such as identifying unknown deposits.
• Technical report writing and database management.
• Learn about ChampionX product lines and their various applications.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including calibration scheduling and record-keeping.
• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of laboratory.
• Communicate effectively with team members to support efficient laboratory operations.
• Implement and follow Company safety practices, including COSHH and Risk Assessments.

Minimum Qualifications

• Batchelor's Degree (BSc.) in Chemistry or related science
• Good computer skills with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a high-performing team.

Physical Demands

• Mixture of office based and standard laboratory-based work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in liquid chromatography
• Previous experience of COSHH and Risk Assessments
• One year's previous lab experience.
