We are seeking an accountant with tax specialisation to advise us as we strengthen our financial systems and prepare our annual accounts. This opportunity will help ensure our tax affairs and financial governance remain compliant and aligned with our not-for-profit purpose.

You'll help us

  • Maintain compliance with HMRC and CIC regulations
  • Manage the transition toward VAT registration with confidence
  • Strengthen confidence in our financial governance among funders and partners
  • Ensure transparent and compliant financial management across multi-partner projects

By contributing your knowledge, you'll directly support a growing organisation improving outcomes for young people, families and schools through executive function coaching and mental health-focused education initiatives.

We Are Looking For a Volunteer Who Has

  • Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CTA (or equivalent)
  • Experience advising small organisations, charities, or CICs on tax compliance and reporting
  • Knowledge of corporation tax, VAT, and accounting principles relevant to not-for-profits
  • A pragmatic and solutions-focused approach to applying tax and governance standards in a small-team setting
  • (Nice to have) Familiarity with Xero and independent examination processes

What will you be doing?

  • Provide advice on corporation tax, VAT registration, and implications for a CIC approaching the VAT threshold
  • Review annual accounts, financial allocations, and corporation tax computations before submission
  • Advise on efficient, compliant approaches to managing surpluses and restricted funds
  • Support the director, board and Honorary Treasurer in planning for sustainable growth
  • Offer practical recommendations for strengthening financial reporting and governance
  • Provide light-touch guidance during year-end close and independent examination

Advise on tax treatment and reporting of multi-partner grant funding and payments to delivery partners
