Change Grow Live won an exciting contract to provide an outreach service in the London borough of Newham. A fantastic, new opportunity has arisen to become a Homelessness Support Volunteer, engaging with rough sleepers with the aim of moving them into a more settled lifestyle.
As part of the Integrated Rough Sleeper Service, you'll help people make a transition in their life. You will provide wraparound support and work with external stakeholders to ensure our clients receive expert advice and support. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals and friendly faces to help support people in leading healthier lives. Equally, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a compassionate, open, and bold mindset. We hope this role will be for you.
ResponsibilitiesVolunteers contribute to Change Grow Live in a variety of ways. From Admin Volunteers to Service User Reps, from Peer Mentors to Healthcare Support Volunteers, from Independent Visitors to Community Mentors each volunteer brings a unique set of skills and talents. We are incredibly grateful for all that volunteers do to support our service users.
If there isn't a specific volunteering role listed for the service in your area, or have a skill you would like to donate to us you can use this listing to express your interest. Most of our volunteer opportunities don't need any special qualifications. We'll make sure you get all the training and support you need. All we ask is that you're kind, open-minded and passionate about supporting people.
Everyone is welcome at Change Grow Live. As a volunteer you will be treated with respect and accepted for who you are. You don't need to have personal experience of drug and alcohol recovery to get involved.
You will respond to Streetlink referrals and help engage people who are new to the streets, while also targeting hard-to-reach clients. Experience working with people with mental and physical health needs, substance misuse, trauma and homelessness would be ideal but not necessary.
You will have to record information about your actions, so enjoying a bit of paperwork and attention to detail is important. This role involves working anti-social hours, we provide 6 early shifts per week.
No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key.
