Purpose of the role
To lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions, driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives.
Accountabilities
- Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.
- Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
- Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Evaluation and enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.
- Collaboration with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
- Enforcement of technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.

Join Barclays as a Release Train Engineer, we're looking for a delivery leader who will take full ownership of executing outcomes and objectives and key results are aligned to the Agile Release Train (ART). This is a practical role focused on driving delivery, optimising flow, and enabling measurable, incremental business value at scale.
To be successful as a Release Train Engineer, you should have experience with:
Own end-to-end ART delivery – Take accountability for planning, execution, and release readiness across Program Increments, ensuring commitments are met and value is delivered.
Optimise flow and remove impediments – Proactively manage dependencies, risks, and blockers across teams to maintain momentum and enable predictable, high-quality delivery into production.
Ensure release readiness – Lead compliance checks and coordinate deployments to guarantee a smooth path to production.
Stakeholder alignment and prioritisation – Mediate competing priorities and maintain strategic focus across teams and business stakeholders.

Data-driven delivery leadership – Apply metrics such as predictability, velocity, and flow to guide improvements and make informed decisions.
Agile tooling expertise – Advanced experience with Jira to manage ART-level work and provide transparency across the train.
