Managing Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead our QS team and oversee all commercial aspects of projects from inception to completion. This senior role requires hands-on quantity surveying expertise, strong leadership skills, and extensive experience working with social housing providers and local authorities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in subcontractor management, contract administration, and the Commercial Value Reporting (CVR) process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Quantity Surveying team, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance management.
- Oversee multiple projects from inception through to completion, ensuring commercial and contractual compliance.
- Prepare and manage cost plans, budgets, and forecasts.
- Administer contracts, including preparing applications for payment, valuations, and final accounts.
- Manage subcontractor engagement, procurement, and payment processes.
- Monitor and report on project financial performance, including risk and value management.
- Apply a strong understanding of the CVR (Commercial Value Reporting) process to support accurate and timely reporting.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, design teams, clients, social housing providers, and local authorities to ensure commercial objectives are met.
- Drive continuous improvement in quantity surveying practices and processes.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a proven track record managing projects from inception to completion.
- Significant experience managing a team of QS professionals.
- Strong knowledge of contracts, procurement, valuations, and final accounts.
- Proven experience managing subcontractors.
- Experience working on projects for social housing providers and local authorities is essential.
- In-depth experience with CVR processes and reporting.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying (RICS or equivalent) preferred.
