Purchasing Assistant / Production Planning Support

About the Role:

We are looking for a proactive and organised Purchasing Assistant who will also play a key part in supporting production planning. Reporting to the Group Purchasing Manager, you will help ensure that stock, materials, and supplier relationships are managed effectively in a fast-moving environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your purchasing and planning skills within a supportive, growing business.

Key Responsibilities:

Purchasing & Procurement Support

  • Support the purchasing team with day-to-day procurement activities and data management.
  • Maintain agreed stock levels while ensuring cost effectiveness, quality, and timely supply.
  • Monitor and update pricing, freight costs, and stock activity, highlighting any commercial impacts.
  • Ensure all purchasing processes are completed accurately and in line with system requirements.
  • Develop strong product knowledge across multiple categories.

Supplier & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key suppliers.
  • Liaise with customer service and warehouse teams to resolve stock queries or supplier issues.
  • Identify and source new or alternative suppliers to support business growth when required.

Production Planning Support

  • Work closely with production planning to ensure materials and manufacturing resources are in place to meet customer order expectations.
  • Assist with forecasting, scheduling, and general planning tasks.

About You:

We're looking for someone who is organised, confident working with data, and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

You will ideally have:

  • 3+ years' experience in a fast-moving office environment.
  • Strong administration and organisational skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience in production planning or scheduling.
  • Buying experience (advantageous but not essential, full training provided).
  • Knowledge of importing goods into the UK (not essential).
  • A proactive approach, strong communication skills, and willingness to learn.
