Candour Productions is looking for an exceptional Development Producer to join our award-winning team in Leeds. We're a female-led, BAFTA and Grierson-winning indie making premium factual series and boxsets for UK broadcasters and SVODs.

This is a key role within a fast, ambitious development team, working to the Head of Development. We're after a sharp, imaginative, highly organised storyteller who knows the UK commissioning landscape inside out and thrives on turning smart ideas into unmissable television.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A proven track record of developing ideas from first spark to greenlight, with recent, demonstrable commissions for UK broadcasters and/or streamers.
  • Confidence and clarity when pitching; you understand commissioners, their tastes, and how to tailor tone and territory in the room.
  • A head full of original, returnable, on-trend ideas across premium factual – from access-driven precincts to contemporary history boxsets to character-led true crime.
  • The ability to juggle multiple projects and tight deadlines with a level head and strong editorial judgement.
  • A nose for stories and cultural shifts – the kind of person who spots a potential single or series in a news item, FOI drop, trend report or throwaway anecdote.
  • Strong knowledge of both UK and US commissioning markets and what's cutting through right now.
  • Natural leadership in a development environment: able to run fast, focused brainstorms; mentor junior colleagues; and shape ideas into compelling, sellable propositions.
  • Excellent, premium deck-building skills in Canva (or similar) – with a knack for structure, writing, design and visual polish.
  • Experience cutting glossy, compelling sizzles, or the ability to script, direct and guide edits to high polish.
  • A strong grounding in factual editorial practice, ethics, compliance and access.
  • A love of team energy and collaboration, paired with the confidence to work independently. As a close-knit team, we prize kindness, enthusiasm and proper graft.

Location
: Ideally based in our Leeds office, but we're open to some hybrid arrangements for the right candidate.

Contract
: Full-time from January 2026. Initial 6-month contract with opportunity to extend.
