Newport Site Manager

We have an exciting opportunity at our Newport Cold Store for a Site Manager to join our busy team. This is a full-time post, working between 8.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday, with some requirement for weekend working to meet demand
Site operations:
- Planning delivery and despatch of products when required by customers
- Working with the warehouse supervisor to organise your team's workload; carrying out daily briefings to allocate tasks to individuals
- Ensuring all products are stored safely in the correct locations
- Liaising with customers and Group operations management and any other relevant parties to ensure that everyone is fully informed of any issues
- Ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and daily check sheets are completed
- Ensuring the warehouse and chambers are kept clear, clean, and tidy, and working efficiently
- Recommending and implementing system or operational upgrades and improvements
- Utilising all space effectively and reducing wastage
- Monitoring service levels
- Recording and reporting H&S incidents in line with procedures
- Monitoring the chambers' temperature app and reporting any issues to Group operations management and Maintenance
- Ensuring site maintenance works are reported and completed
- Ensuring the site is fully stocked of cleaning and catering supplies
- Managing your team:
- Leading and managing all warehouse and site office employees
- Ensuring there are sufficient staffing levels at all times and covering the site office when colleagues are absent
- Managing sickness and other absences, ensuring documentation and meetings are completed within set timescales
- Managing recruitment for the site to ensure resource meets demand within budget, including interviewing, onboarding, and conducting inductions
- Leading investigations and other formal meetings as required
- Reporting of employee hours to the payroll team
- Ensuring colleague concerns are dealt with efficiently and respectfully, and reporting issues to the Group Operations Director as necessary
General:
- Taking responsibility for your own health & safety and that of others
- Maintaining compliance with the Group's policies and procedures at all times
- Maintaining confidentiality and observing data protection and associated guidance where appropriate

Skills and abilities:

- Capable and confident in dealing with competing demands, prioritising effectively
- Understanding of risk management
- Critical thinking and analysis skills
- Qualifications and experience:
- At least 3 years' experience working in a site supervisory or management role
- REACH Truck, PPT, and Counterbalance licences and experience are desirable but not essential
- Interpersonal skills including the ability to encourage good performance and handle underperformers
- Willingness to have difficult conversations with colleagues and customers in a constructive manner
Other:
- Flexible with an ability to work outside office hours when required
- Full and valid driving license and use of a vehicle
