The Children's Residential care Worker and team leader (Residential Childcare) is responsible for providing direct care and support to children and young people who are living in a residential care setting. The role requires a compassionate and patient individual who is able to build trusting relationships with children and support them to develop their independence, social and life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily support and care to children and young people in a residential care setting.
  • Build positive relationships with children and young people and support them to develop their independence, social and life skills.
  • Ensure that children and young people are safe and protected at all times.
  • Support children and young people to access education and health services.
  • Encourage and support positive behaviour and help manage challenging behaviour in a sensitive and appropriate manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions and incidents involving children and young people in care.
  • Work as part of a team with other support workers and professionals to ensure that the needs of children and young people are met.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience of working with children and young people in a residential care setting is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, caring and empathetic approach to working with children and young people.
  • Ability to manage children with Emotional Behaviour Difficulties and challenging behaviour in a sensitive and appropriate manner.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with other professionals.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • A valid driver's license may be required.
  • Enhanced DBS Checks
