Stevenage with Hybrid Working
At the IET, making our world a better place starts by creating a better place for our people. At the IET you'll have more than just a job. Our work is exciting and challenging, connecting the people who solve the problems that matter. It means working with us has real meaning and impact, and you'll grow – professionally and personally – in ways you never thought possible.
What you'll be doing
As our Product Manager for Inspec, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the IET's world-class Inspec suite, with a core focus on unlocking value through strong, strategic reseller partnerships. You'll work at the heart of our product strategy, building deep, collaborative relationships with resellers to ensure Inspec is seamlessly integrated into their platforms, embedded into their roadmaps, and positioned for long-term shared growth.
You'll combine customer insight, technical understanding, and commercial awareness to evolve the Inspec product ecosystem, ensuring functionality, workflows and integrations deliver clear benefits for reseller partners and end-users alike. From aligning development priorities to identifying enhancement opportunities, you'll make sure our products support, and accelerate, customer [BV1] success.
In addition, you'll translate partner and customer needs into actionable user stories, guide development from concept to launch, and champion innovation, including the creation of AI-enabled workflow tools. Working closely with Operations, Technology, Data Science, Sales and Engagement, you'll ensure Inspec continues to exceed the expectations of resellers, researchers, librarians and institutions worldwide.
What we hope you can bring to the role
We're looking for an experienced Product Manager who understands the STM, scholarly communications or data/analytics landscape and knows how to bring intelligence [BV2] products to life. You'll be comfortable working with technical teams, skilled at turning business problems into product solutions, and confident managing the full lifecycle of features, enhancements and new services.
You'll thrive on building strong, productive relationships, particularly with reseller partners, ensuring we're aligned on roadmaps, integrating effectively into their platforms, and delivering shared value. Your analytical mindset, commercial awareness and ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences will help drive Inspec forward.
If you bring a passion for product innovation, an eye for detail and a collaborative approach to delivering meaningful customer outcomes, we'd love to hear from you.
We'd love to get to know you
Is Imposter syndrome creeping in? Don't worry – we'd rather hear from you this time than not hear from you at all Read on for a little more information about the role; but also, keep in mind that we're open to discussing flexible ways of working, including reduced hours and working in an agile way, supported by a hybrid working framework that allows you to find the best place to do your best work.
A little more about the role
- Lead the product management and development of Inspec, Inspec Analytics and emerging Inspec Intelligence tools, ensuring strong integration and alignment with reseller platforms.
- Own the full product lifecycle from discovery through to delivery, ensuring features and enhancements provide measurable customer and business value.
- Build strong, ongoing relationships with reseller partners, customers and third-party suppliers, ensuring roadmap alignment, product training and mutually beneficial collaboration.
- Translate customer needs and market trends into actionable user stories, technical requirements and product ideas.
- Maintain and evolve product roadmaps aligned with organisational strategy and customer expectations.
- Drive go-to-market activities, supporting Sales and Marketing with collateral, case studies, webinars and thought leadership.
- Identify and deliver continuous improvements and innovations to close functionality gaps and strengthen integration with reseller workflows.
- Collaborate across internal teams, including Data Science, Operations, Technology and Sales, to ensure a seamless product experience.
- Use data-driven insights, market analysis and customer feedback to inform prioritisation and leadership decisions.
- Contribute to business growth by equipping colleagues with product knowledge and supporting effective prioritisation across projects.
A little more about what we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Product Manager in STM data/analytics, scholarly communications or B2B publishing, with the ability to build influential, value-driven relationships with resellers and partners to support product growth and adoption.
- Strong understanding of product development processes, Agile methodologies, and tools such as Jira.
- Experience managing data and analytics products, subscription models and scholarly metadata (including APIs and SQL).
- Confidence in developing use cases and supporting go-to-market activities.
- Excellent analytical and project management skills, with the ability to use data visualisation tools such as Power BI or VOSviewer.
- Ability to translate complex or technical concepts into clear, customer-focused communication.
