Overview

A major digital media organisation is seeking a
Tech Lead – Mobile Apps
to join their growing Apps Team, helping deliver scalable, high-performance React Native applications across multiple brand experiences. You'll be leading technical design, development and deployment, collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration with internal and external platforms.

This is a fully remote position ideal for an experienced developer with technical leadership skills and a passion for delivering accessible, UX-focused apps at scale.

The Role

As the Tech Lead – Mobile Apps, you will:

  • Lead development across greenfield and legacy mobile applications using React Native, TypeScript and Swift.
  • Guide architecture planning and implementation of a scalable "multi-brand" mobile app platform.
  • Mentor a team of engineers, lead code reviews and enforce best practices.
  • Manage CI/CD processes, app store submissions, and platform maintenance (App Store, Play Store, TestFlight).
  • Integrate with internal APIs, third-party systems and cloud services (AWS, DevOps, etc).
  • Drive accessibility and performance best practices across the app suite.
  • Use AI development tools (e.g., Cursor) efficiently and responsibly within your workflows.

About You

You'll be a successful Tech Lead – Mobile Apps if you:

  • Have a strong track record building and deploying cross-platform React Native applications.
  • Bring 5+ years of experience in mobile development (iOS and Android), with deep knowledge of TypeScript, Swift, and app theming tools (e.g. Tamagui).
  • Are confident leading development teams and fostering technical growth.
  • Have experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL, Graph, Vector) and event-driven architectures.
  • Know how to build for accessibility and performance in mobile.
  • Are comfortable managing DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
  • Enjoy experimenting with and applying AI development tools, with quality control in mind.
  • Can operate effectively in a fully remote, asynchronous working environment.
