About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager (Clinical) to join our team at Heron Lodge Nursing Home. In this role, you will support the Home Manager in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care in line with regulatory standards and best practice.

As Deputy Manager, you will provide clinical leadership to nursing and care teams, ensuring residents receive person-centred care that promotes dignity, choice, and wellbeing. You will oversee clinical governance, mentor staff, conduct audits, review care plans, manage medication administration, and ensure accurate record-keeping. You will also be involved in pre-admission assessments, risk evaluations, and liaising with healthcare professionals, families, and external agencies.

Reports To: Home Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to care and nursing teams.
  • Ensure care delivery meets CQC standards and company policies.
  • Conduct clinical audits and review/update care plans regularly.
  • Oversee medication management and accurate documentation.
  • Support pre-admission assessments and ongoing resident evaluations.
  • Build strong relationships with residents, families, staff, and external professionals.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Previous Deputy Home Manager experience.
  • Ability to engage with residents and provide excellent care services.
  • Knowledge of adult safeguarding and referral pathways.
  • Strong understanding of CQC standards and care quality regulations.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to involve residents and families in care planning and evaluation.

Education and Qualifications:

  • NMC registered nurse with relevant experience – essential.
