We are seeking an experienced and motivated General Hotel Manager to lead the team at The Prince of Wales Hotel, a newly refurbished 38-bedroom independent property located along the A38 near Berkeley.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a passion for hospitality, a commercial mindset, and the ability to drive business growth through strong operations, events management, and guest satisfaction.

Full time- 5-6 days a week, including weekends as needed, covering other staff if needed

Live-In position can be given to the right candidate.

Duties

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the hotel, restaurant, and bar to ensure smooth operations
  • Lead and motivate a multi-disciplinary team across front-of-house, housekeeping, and kitchen
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase occupancy, revenue, and guest satisfaction
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting in collaboration with ownership
  • Actively promote the hotel to local businesses and secure corporate, conference, and event bookings
  • Coordinate weddings, private functions, and large-scale events from enquiry through to delivery
  • Maintain the highest standards of service, cleanliness, and compliance across all departments
  • Recruit, train, and support staff to ensure a motivated and professional workforce
  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and marketing partners to strengthen brand reputation
  • Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a hotel management or senior supervisory role
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills
  • Proven experience in business development, events, or corporate sales within hospitality
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and financial-management abilities
  • Hands-on approach with a focus on guest service and operational excellence
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and event days
  • Confident using hotel management systems, booking platforms, and reporting tools
