Our dedicated staff and volunteers work together to support older people across the UK. We hear from older people themselves, as well as friends, family members, professionals and agencies who are concerned about elder abuse and safer ageing.

As an Admin and Data Support Volunteer - Hourglass (Safer Ageing), you will play a vital part in helping our frontline teams deliver timely, high-quality services for older victims of abuse. These roles are central to keeping our operations running smoothly—supporting communications, maintaining systems, and ensuring processes remain efficient and up to date. What are we looking for?

• Kindness, patience and strong communication skills that help people feel heard and supported
• Reliability and a genuine interest in supporting older people
• No formal experience required—just a willingness to help
• A minimum commitment of 3 hours per week for 3 months
• Reliable, organised and able to manage tasks independently with support
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Comfortable using email, Office software (or equivalent), and online systems
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Respectful, empathetic and committed to safeguarding
• No prior experience in domestic abuse or safeguarding required—full training provided

What you will be doing:

Key tasks

• Provide routine administrative support to Frontline Leads
• Prepare and send information packs and resources
• Draft and respond to routine emails
• Arrange meetings and prepare supporting documents
• Maintain team calendars and shared inboxes
• Upload referrals and case information to our CRM system
• Assist with digital filing and data monitoring
• Research organisations and local services to support casework
• Compile and update signposting resources
• Proofread documents and assist with reports or summaries

This role is also suited to University students studying Health and Social Care, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or Community Development, though anyone with a passion for supporting older people is warmly encouraged to apply.

Criteria and Requirements:

• Your own access to reliable access to broadband, internet and a laptop or pc
• Minimum age 18 years +
• Application form and informal interview
• Two personal reference checks
• DBS/PVG/AccessNI criminal records checks (if required)

(This role involves working with vulnerable adults. A DBS check is required, and it is a criminal offence to apply if you are barred from working with vulnerable groups)
