The role

Reporting to the Director of Planning, you'll lead on the effective resourcing of a 24/7 operation across 2,500 colleagues that welcomes over 30 million passengers a year. This is a key position to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the airport, and one that gives you line management responsibilities over the Resource Planning Department. You'll work in collaboration with Operational Directors, People, Recruitment, Finance and Commercial teams to ensure that all resource requirements are considered and planned in line with Manchester Airport's growth agenda, and be accountable for demand forecasting across the passenger journey and the delivery of resource plans across all operational areas and customer touchpoints.

You'll grow a high performing planning team, providing colleagues with a compelling vision and ensuring effective leadership and management structures are in place, whilst leading and setting the direction of a customer focused resourcing team that provides a professional, timely service to all aspects of the business. You'll also provide strategic input into Manchester's Transformation agenda, be the SME for utilisation and embedding of new workforce management systems, enable continuous improvement initiatives and projects in all areas of resource deployment and oversee and provide direction for the deployment of new technology and systems to provide increased efficiency, improved planning capability and better user experience for colleagues.

What will make you successful in the role?

Experience of leading and developing a similar large and diverse high performing planning team in a large, fast paced operational environment is essential. You'll need experience of driving continuous improvement by introducing more efficient working practices/technology, managing a large cost base and identifying efficiencies. You'll also be a strong communicator with skills to drive behavioral and performance improvement and an excellent track record of stakeholder management and you'll be expected to liaise with a wide range of senior leaders and across a number of internal departments. Experience working with trade unions and leading change programmes would also be beneficial.
