Job Description

Lancashire Trucks Ltd are seeking a highly motivated and skilled HGV Technician to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining, servicing, and repairing a wide range of heavy goods vehicles to the highest standard.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Self-motivated – able to take initiative and work proactively.
  • Keen to learn – open to training, development, and keeping up to date with the latest vehicle technologies.
  • A problem solver – with strong diagnostic skills and the ability to think independently when faced with technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine servicing, inspections, and MOT preparations on HGVs and trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance to ensure fleet reliability and compliance.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and technical manuals to support fault finding.
  • Complete job cards and maintain accurate service records.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
  • Adhere to health & safety and company policies at all times.

Person Specification

Essential Skills & Attributes

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
  • Proven experience as a HGV Technician or similar role.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • A strong commitment to high standards of workmanship.

Desirable

  • HGV Class 1 or 2 licence.
  • Knowledge of modern diagnostic systems.
  • Previous experience working in a commercial workshop environment.
