Recovery Worker
Location: Based in Torbay (TRI) – Shrublands House, 8 Morgan Avenue, Torbay, TQ2 5RS
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm)
Contract: Fixed term (one contract of 12 months and another of 10 months)
Salary: £25,110 - £32,090
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team within Torbay Recovery Initiatives (TRI) and Growth In Action Structure (GIA). You will be working as part of our friendly team at the intersection of substance misuse recovery and the criminal justice system. You'll play a vital role in helping individuals move forward, making positive life changes that improve health, reduce re-offending, and support long-term recovery.
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Recovery Worker in Torbay. Are you ready to take the next step in your career and be part of a bold new direction in service delivery? The successful candidate will be an integral part of the service as we move toward a more integrated, dynamic approach. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver Trauma Informed and Person-Centred support working towards positive client outcomes and ensure the highest standards of collaborative and co-production working within Torbay. You'll work with people referred by prisons, courts, police custody, probation, and other agencies – many of whom have offending behaviour linked to substance misuse. This is a hands-on, varied role, with full training and support provided.
Who are we?
Growth in Action (GIA) is an alliance between:
Torbay Recovery Initiatives (TRI) – Drug and alcohol service
Torbay Domestic Abuse Service (TDAS) – Domestic abuse service
Leonard Stocks Centre (LSC) – Homelessness hostel
Influenced by current, past and future service users
Those who are passionate about making a positive impact in Torbay
Why do it differently?
• Current systems are difficult to navigate
• Too many people involved in someone's care/road to recovery
• Many different referrals
• Reduce stigma
• Services are currently designed by the wrong people
• People having to tell their story multiple times
• To make us future proof and more cost effective with reduced government funds
What are we working towards?
• Services across the alliance working together
• Everything coproduced
• No wrong door approach
• Tell your story once
• Continuity of recovery worker
• People before processes
• Being inclusive and diverse
This is more than a job—it's a chance to shape the future of support and recovery in your community.
