Recovery Worker (Tameside Supported Housing)

Location: Boston Bank House, Hyde, SK14 2NR
Working Hours: hour rota, including on-call duties)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £24,243 - £28,930 per annum (pro rata)

Make a real difference in your community

Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier and more independent lives?

Join Waythrough, one of the UK's leading mental health and social support charities, and make a lasting impact every day.

We support over 125,000 people each year through our 200 services, empowering individuals to overcome challenges around mental health, housing, and substance use.

About the Role

Tameside Supported Housing Service (SHS) is a 24-hour mental health and community-based service working to a recovery model. We provide a range of flexible support options, including outreach, tenancy support, peer support, and supported housing, to adults aged 18 and over who are on their journey to recovery and independence.

One of our key services, Boston Bank, is a 24/7 supported housing service for women, offering five self-contained flats alongside shared communal areas such as a lounge, kitchen, and conservatory. Our focus is on empowering women in their recovery journey, helping them build confidence, develop essential life skills, and move towards independent living.

What You'll Do

As a Recovery Worker, you'll play a vital role in helping and inspiring the people who use our services to:

  • Maintain their tenancy and develop independent living skills.

  • Build confidence and resilience through personalised support planning.

  • Develop practical skills such as budgeting, cooking, and household management.

  • Access work, education, volunteering, and leisure opportunities in the community

You'll work both independently and as part of a supportive team, ensuring each individual receives tailored, compassionate care that supports their unique recovery goals.

To Succeed in This Role, You'll Need:

No previous experience is required — full training will be provided. More important is your empathy, compassion, and enthusiasm for supporting others to live fulfilling lives.

We welcome applications from those with an understanding of mental health issues or lived experience of recovery. You'll need to be comfortable working as part of a rotating 24-hour shift pattern and taking part in on-call duties.

About Waythrough

Formed in 2024 through the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship, Waythrough is now one of the largest mental health and social support charities in England.

With 3,500 staff and volunteers across more than 200 services, we help people to live full, meaningful lives.

Some roles may still appear under our legacy brands (Humankind, Richmond Fellowship, Aquarius) while we complete our integration — but wherever you join us, you'll be part of one supportive team, sharing one purpose.

What We Offer

We value the people who make a difference every day. Alongside meaningful work, you'll enjoy a comprehensive benefits package:

  • 27 days' annual leave, rising to 32 after 1 year (plus bank holidays)
  • Pension scheme with 4.5% employer contribution, matched up to 6.5%
  • Life assurance (3× annual salary)
  • Enhanced sick pay and family-friendly pay
  • Birthday leave and the option to buy up to 5 extra days' annual leave
