The Practice Accountant will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting and financial solutions to our diverse and growing client base. You will work closely with clients, understand their individual needs, and provide tailored advice and support.
The role reports directly to the Practice Owner.
Key Duties:
- Prepare, review, and analyse financial statements with accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain client accounts through bookkeeping, reconciliations, and data entry, in collaboration with the Bookkeeper.
- Prepare year-end accounts, Self-Assessment returns, and Corporation Tax computations and filings.
- Review VAT returns and monthly payroll submissions prepared by the Bookkeeper.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, delivering exceptional service and tailored advice.
- Provide financial analysis to support clients in making informed decisions.
- Collaborate with colleagues and clients to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency.
- Stay up to date with accounting standards, tax laws, and industry regulations to ensure accurate client guidance.
- Support business development by identifying opportunities within the existing client base and assisting with new work.
- Train and support junior members of the team.
- Carry out additional reasonable duties during busy periods to support the team.
Essential Attributes
- Qualified (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent) or degree in Accounting/Finance.
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency with cloud-based accounting software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong client management and communication skills, with broad accounts experience.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage workload with minimal supervision.
- 2–3 years' experience in an accountancy practice (preferred but not essential).
- Motivated, flexible, and enthusiastic team player.
- Willingness to attend monthly meetings.
